Balcony to the Lake Constance
Markdorf, a small town with about 14,000 inhabitants, is located 7 km inland of the Lake Constance between Meersburg and Immenstaad and, because of its hillside, is often called "Balcony to the Lake Constance".

When the weather is fine you have a fantastic view over the Lake Constance with the adjacent Austrian and Swiss Alps.

Markdorf offers a central starting point to all attractions around Lake Constance as well as to the hinterland with its charming,  natural landscape and almost unlimited bicycle- and hiking trails.


In the Middle Ages Markdorf was a summer residence of the bishops of Constance. Next to the historic bishop's castle there is a small old town center, diverse shops and supermarkets, that invites you to shop and stroll.

Markdorf is distinguished by gastronomic diversity, free parking and a fairly good public transportion system (train and buses). The flair of the small town guarantees a relaxing holiday away from the usual tourist crowds close to the lake.
